Valeri Liukin is a retired Soviet and American artistic gymnast and current gymnastics coach. He was born on January 13, 1962 in Ivanovo, Russia. Liukin was a member of the Soviet national gymnastics team in the 1980s, winning numerous medals and accolades.
After retiring from competitive gymnastics, Liukin immigrated to the United States where he started a successful career as a gymnastics coach. He is the owner of the World Olympic Gymnastics Academy (WOGA) in Plano, Texas, and has coached numerous elite gymnasts, including his daughter, Nastia Liukin, who won the gold medal in the all-around competition at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Valeri Liukin is known for his innovative coaching techniques and dedication to developing young gymnasts into world-class athletes. He has been inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame for his contributions to the sport.
